Professor Claire Vajdic is Head of the Cancer Epidemiology Research Unit at the Centre for Big Data Research in Health, UNSW. She is internationally recognized for her expertise in population-based cancer epidemiology and health services research, and her ability to lead teams of data scientists, clinicians and consumers to yield insightful observations about cancer control from linked health records. Her research has impacted clinical practice guidelines (cancer screening and models of care in immune deficiency; optimal care pathways for cancer of unknown primary) and global public health policies (IARC classifications of human carcinogens; timing of HIV antiretroviral initiation).
