
Petra is a subject matter expert in Best practice clinical embryology and quality control together with effective laboratory workflow and quality assurance. Petra completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Tasmania before embarking on a career in the field of Assisted Reproduction. Petra has worked as a clinical embryologist, Laboratory Manager, and Scientific Director. These roles were undertaken both in Australia and the United States and her experience includes managing the day-to-day running of both small and large-scale IVF laboratories. Throughout her career, Petra has participated in both clinical and translational research and in 2003 her research was recognised with the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA) award for the Best Scientific Paper (FSA-ESHRE exchange award). In 2013 Petra completed her Ph.D. at the University of Melbourne under Professor David Gardner, in which she undertook novel time-lapse research into the effect of oxygen on embryo developed. Petra has previously been the Chairperson of SIRT and currently serves as the SIRT rep on the FSA Board and RTAC. Petra’s most recent project is learning to Mountain bike ride with her 3 and 5-year-old boys.
