On behalf of the organising committee I would like to extend a warm welcome to join us for the annual scientific meeting of the Fertility Society of Australia in Adelaide, South Australia.

The theme for this year’s FSA meeting is “when the going gets tough”. This theme was chosen to highlight discussion of recent advances and approaches to managing the more challenging scenarios in reproductive medicine. Our panel of esteemed international and national speakers will give their views on such vexing issues as the optimal management of recurrent IVF implantation failure, the ethics of providing “adjuvant therapy” of unproven value, appropriate psychological support for the long term IVF patient, as well as new advances in genetic and laboratory practice.

Adelaide has the distinction of being considered one of the most liveable cities in the world, and this year Lonely Plant listed South Australia in its top five “must see” regions world-wide. I hope that you take this chance to visit Adelaide’s beautiful beaches, enjoy its vibrant food and wine culture, or perhaps even take a break and visit the picturesque Flinders ranges in full spring bloom, or the abundant wildlife of Kangaroo Island.

I look forward to welcoming you to Adelaide in October 2017 for what is certain to be both an enjoyable and informative meeting.
