Welcome FSA 2009
On behalf of the organising committee for the annual meeting of the Fertility of Australia and New Zealand I would like to welcome you to the beautiful city of Perth.
The topic of our programme is “Future Challenges in Fertility Treatment” and aims to address some of the difficulties that staff may face within a fertility unit. These are the difficulties that we may encounter on a day-to day basis, but will pose increasing challenges to us in the future, such as obesity, ageing, egg freezing, donor recruitment, and the consequences of IVF.
With the future in mind we are very fortunate to have addressing our conference several highly respected international speakers; Dr Kutluk Oktay, a pioneer in the field of fertility preservation, Professor Nick Macklon, a leader in the field of minimal stimulation IVF and an instigator in the development of the field of periconception medicine, Dr Denny Sakkas, an innovator in the field of embryology and Dr Andrea Braverman an acknowledged authority on the psychosocial aspects of fertility treatment.
In addition we are delighted that many respected local authorities have agreed to speak on controversial areas of assisted reproduction and the challenges that we may face on a weekly basis. Some of these speakers will speak in the form of a debate to provide increased audience stimulation.
We hope that you find our programme both exciting and stimulating. Furthermore we sincerely hope that you will enjoy your time in Perth and take the opportunity to visit some of the many beautiful sites within our state.
